Artist Caly, also known as DVMN FVCK, opens up with his first exhibition at the “Rock the Street” store in the 2nd arrondissement. Located on a very cultural and hip street, I arrived to find urban music playing throughout the speakers in the store. Expecting more of a gallery than an actual clothes store, “Rock the Street” is sponsoring DVMN FVCK on his first art exhibition. This exhibit, that consists about 7 to 8 pieces of art, concentrates on the woman of the 21st century.
In my interview with DVMN FVCK, I asked what it was that women from this century have that women from past centuries don’t, he replied stating that “the work of women this century are more recognized than those of the past. 21st century women are more important in society’s eyes, considering the fact that they have more rights, unlike the women in the past where they didn’t even have a right to speak or vote.”
Drawing cartoons over women such as, the Virgin Mary, Rihanna and Lady Gaga, DVMN FVCK wants to take the importance of woman this day in age and transmit it through his works of art with his vision and advice for woman today. As an up and coming artist he is beginning to sell his work. His exhibition is from now on until the 1st of July. This is something I recommend people to go to and see, one can enjoy looking at the pieces of art displayed as well as shop for urban clothes at the same time.
